On a cool summer evening, Train took over Stage AE, bringing their unique blend of rock and pop to an eager audience. Known for hits like “Drops of Jupiter” and “Hey, Soul Sister,” Train has carved out a niche in the music world with their catchy melodies and heartfelt lyrics. This particular show was a solo headliner show amidst their co-headliner tour with REO Speedwagon, making it a special event for dedicated fans. The anticipation was palpable as concertgoers gathered, ready for a night of unforgettable performances.

Kicking off the night, Yacht Rock Revue set the tone with their smooth and nostalgic tunes. Specializing in the soft rock sounds of the late ’70s and early ’80s, the band effortlessly transported the audience back in time. Their setlist featured classic hits from artists like Hall & Oates, Kenny Loggins, and Toto, which had the crowd swaying and singing along. A multitude of instruments, from the iconic saxophone to a slew of percussion instruments, the band kept fans guessing as to what would be pulled out next. The seamless harmonies, polished instrumental performances, and perfect group chemistry gave new life to these timeless yacht rock classics. By the time Yacht Rock Revue wrapped up, the crowd was thoroughly warmed up and ready for the main act.

Train burst onto the stage with an energy that immediately electrified the crowd, feeding off of the energy built by Yacht Rock Revue, and lead singer Pat Monahan commanded all attention. As they launched into their set, the familiar strains of “Calling All Angels” filled the air, and the crowd erupted in cheers. The band’s connection with their fans was evident from the start, and Monahan’s charismatic stage presence only enhanced the experience. Taking it to another level, Monahan pulled out a phone and started livestreaming to the large projector, giving fans an opportunity to be included in the show.

Midway through the set, Train introduced a new song titled “Long Yellow Dress,” which was met with enthusiastic cheers. The new dong has clearly been embraced, as many people were wearing yellow dresses in the crowd. Monahan wanted to win *everyone* over though and quipped, “If you don’t love it, we’ll just keep playing it ’til you do.” This playful banter highlighted the band’s rapport with their audience and kept the energy levels high. The new song quickly became a highlight of the night, its catchy chorus, and upbeat tempo resonating with the crowd. As the band played on, the sea of yellow dresses swayed in unison, creating a visual spectacle that complemented the music perfectly.

One of the standout moments of the evening was Train’s cover of Teddy Swims’ “Lose Control,” which showcased the band’s versatility and musical prowess. The raw power and emotion that Monahan put into the performance really captured the magic of the song and captivated everyone in attendance. Adding to the magic of the night was an incredible light and projector display that painted the stage in a kaleidoscope of colors, enhancing the sensory experience. Fans danced in the aisles, lost in the music and the moment. As the night drew to a close, Monahan declared, “This has been my favourite show in the last ten years,” a sentiment that was echoed by the ecstatic crowd.

As the final notes of the encore faded, the night came to an unforgettable end. Train’s performance was a masterclass in showmanship, leaving a lasting impression on everyone lucky enough to attend. The seamless blend of new material and classic hits, coupled with the band’s genuine connection with their audience, made for an evening that was both nostalgic and refreshingly new. The dazzling light show and dynamic stage presence further elevated the experience, ensuring that this concert would be remembered as one of the highlights of their tour.
