The night pulsated with an electrifying fusion of darkness and brutality as co-headliners Mayhem and Cannibal Corpse dominated Stage AE. Both bands are revered legends of metal in their own right, yet they have strikingly distinct styles. The juxtaposition of these two powerhouses in a single night promised an unforgettable spectacle.

Commencing the evening, Blood Incantation set the stage with their mesmerizing and technically proficient death metal soundscape. Their intricate guitar craftsmanship and atmospheric elements ensnared the audience, transporting them into a cosmic dimension that foreshadowed the impending ferocity.

Following suit, Gorguts showcased their virtuosity within the realm of progressive death metal. Employing complex rhythms and dissonant melodies, they stretched the boundaries of the genre, leaving the crowd completely awestruck by their technical prowess.

As the anticipation swelled to its crescendo, the stage was engulfed in a shroud of profound darkness, a dramatic prelude to the arrival of Mayhem. Emerging from the abyss, the band exuded an aura of pure malevolence that seemed to seep into the very atmosphere. Frontman Corpsegrinder taunted the crowd throughout the night, challenging them to match his headbanging prowess, but they could only fall short.

Beyond his magnetic charisma and famously thick neck, Corpsegrinder injected an unimaginable intensity into the stage with his guttural vocal delivery. Every word that escaped his lips dripped with pure brutality.

But, as all good things must come to an end, the final growls reverberated within Stage AE, and the crowd erupted with ecstatic fervor. Cannibal Corpse, one of the pinnacle death metal bands, and Mayhem, instrumental in shaping the Norwegian black metal scene in the 80’s and 90’s, provided fans of extreme metal with an unforgettable night to cherish. Each of the four bands brought their unique styles and unwavering intensity to the stage, forging an unforgettable experience for all in attendance.
