The Chaos and Carnage tour made its way to Pittsburgh on Tuesday April 18th. Weekday shows are always a mixed bag, but it seems like every death metal lover in the city came out for this incredible 9-band show.
The venue, Preserving, is a old church converted into a concert venue, which is quite possibly the greatest venue for a death metal lineup of this caliber. The juxtaposition of a building that still very much looks like a church with bands like Dying Fetus and Suicide Silence was too perfect. The stained glass windows also made for some very fun backdrops.

The stage at Preserving is at the front of the church and it’s rather small. Normally size doesn’t matter, but with 9 bands set to play, there was a lot of gear. Everyone responsible for setting up and breaking down the stage were absolutely brilliant and made use of what space was available, with gear piled up wherever there was room. And the changes between sets were incredibly smooth and quick. Everyone involved played a huge roll in making this show a success!
The lineup for the show is as follows:
- Corpse God
- Fall of Babylon
- Slay Squad
- Crown Magnetar
- Sanguisugabogg
- Aborted
- Born of Osiris
- Dying Fetus
- Suicide Silence
Every single band was absolutely incredible and brought something unique to the show. Everyone was excited to be performing, especially at such a unique venue, and were chatting with fans in the front row about gear and music between sets.
