Melodic death metal band The Black Dahlia Murder brought their Verminous Remnant tour to Pittsburgh. The setlist was impressive, featuring songs from their latest album Verminous as well as songs throughout their over 20 year discography. With screaming guitars and gutteral vocals, the band sounded absolutely brutal in the best way possible. Nothing less would be expected from one of the biggest modern death metal bands.
A highlight of the shows was without a doubt when the band brought out Statford the Ape . A favourite of Black Dahlia Murder fans who has been absent as of late made a surprise guest appearance. Present for just a breif moment while running across the stage, the crowd went absolutely bananas!
The crowd was ravenous the entire night, with each song giving them more and more energy. Even the folks up on the balcony were on their feet thrashing around. A rare site for the balcony! And despite the lower GA section being relatively small, there was crowd surfer after crowd surfer. The band was loving it, vocalist Brian would reach out as the crowd surfers were brought towards the stage. At one point Brian even called out “You guys are awesome”. As the second stop on the tour, Pittsburgh set the standard high!
